FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

BINOCULARS

Yes, this is completely normal. One side of the raincover features a closed strap-eye, while the other side is intentionally left open. This design allows the raincover to remain attached to your neck strap when removed, so it can hang conveniently to one side without obstructing your view or becoming misplaced.

Replacement parts are available through our spare parts website at parts.kiteoptics.com. Simply identify the type and model of your instrument and select the corresponding replacement lens cover.

In most binoculars, eyecups are designed to be removable and can be unscrewed.

Please note that many models use a reverse (left-hand) thread. As a result, the eyecup may need to be tightened by turning it counterclockwise rather than clockwise.

Avoid forcing the eyecup. Turn it gently in both directions until you find the correct thread direction and it tightens securely.

A scratched lens does not necessarily affect the optical performance of your instrument. If you do not notice any degradation in image quality during normal use, repair is generally not required. Should you experience visible image defects or performance issues, please contact our service department for further evaluation.

Your product is completely fine. Based on feedback from astronomy users, we replaced the original green LED with a red LED indicator.

Some users found that the green LED could be visible in the field of view during nighttime observations. The red LED minimizes this effect and is less noticeable in dark conditions.

Since 2026, all APC products have been equipped with a red LED indicator. Both the earlier green LED version and the current red LED version function equally well and indicate normal operation.

SPOTTING SCOPES

Most tripod heads use a quick-release plate that attaches to the spotting scope via the standard ¼"-20 tripod thread located in the tripod foot.

However, the latest generation of KITE OPTICS spotting scopes -except for the SP 56- feature a tripod foot that can be mounted directly into a Manfrotto 128RC tripod head, eliminating the need for the standard quick-release plate. This provides a faster and more secure connection, engineered to enhance your KITE experience.

A dent in the objective housing does not automatically mean that the scope has been damaged internally.

If the objective lens is intact and you do not notice any deterioration in image quality, the scope is likely functioning normally and does not require repair.

However, if the lens is cracked, chipped, or fractured, we recommend sending the instrument to our service department for inspection and repair.
